About

Funding bodies increasingly require their grant-holders to produce a Data Management Plan (DMP), either during the bid-preparation stage or after funding has been secured. DMPonline helps researchers respond to this requirement, and any expectations that their institution or others may apply.

DMPonline is based on the open source DMPRoadmap codebase, which is jointly developed by the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) and the University of California Curation Center (UC3). The DCC & UC3 work closely with research funders and universities to produce a tool that generates active DMPs and caters for the whole lifecycle of a project, from bid-preparation stage through to completion.

SLU’s DMPonline instance is administered by the SLU University Library and, more specifically, SLU’s Data Management Support (DMS).

How the tool works

There are a number of templates within the tool that represent the requirements of different funders and institutions. Users are asked three questions at the outset to determine the appropriate template to use (e.g., SLU’s DMP template – VR, Formas, RJ, Science Europe when applying for a VR, Formas, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond or Science Europe grant). Guidance is provided to help you interpret and answer the questions. This guidance is provided by researcher funders, universities, and disciplines.

Getting started

Should you be a first-time visitor to DMPonline, you will have to create an account using your SLU-email.

  • Choose the 'Create account' tab.
  • Fill in the form using your SLU-email address and put down ‘Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences’ as your organisation in order to connect your DMPonline account with your SLU-AD account.

The next time you want to sign in to DMPonline you may do so using your institutional credentials.

  • Choose the 'Sign in' tab.
  • Click on ‘Sign in with your institutional credentials’.
  • Type ‘SLU’ into the ‘Type the name of your organisation’ box and click continue.
  • Use your SLU AD-account information to log in to DMPonline.

Additional Information

While DCC is constantly improving the user interface and functionality of DMPonline, SLU’s DMS may be adding new and improving existing DMP templates for SLU staff and students to use. If you would like to contribute with feedback and suggestions, report bugs, or request new features, please contact DMS via dms@slu.se; DMS will collect and forward your feedback, suggestions, reports, or requests.
